Hi all, need some help.

I have been using my phone for music whilst going to the gym (Nokia 1520). As it is so big though when I do running/rowing or any lower body stuff I have to take it out of my pocket.

So, what I really want as a small MP3 player that I can use for the above, however I don't really like stuff bouncing up and down in my pockets whilst running etc. I used to have a Sony MP3 player that came with an armband (here: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PNK-NW-S205F) and this was ideal for me, but they don't seem to do anything like this anymore.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers.

I use a small-ish android handset, which I can use Runtastic and Spotify premium on. Fits nicely in an armband, works just fine for me. Bonus of having Bluetooth so I can use wireless earphones. Might be worth considering?

I'd be tempted to keep an eye out for a second hand iPod nano, can probably get it dirt cheap although you are stuck with iTunes which isn't ideal if you don't have it already.

Depends on how much interaction you want with it really? There's those Sony 4Gb headphones with the player built in which I think are pretty neat but would require work before you go out in terms of loading up playlists etc.

These ones - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWZ-W273S-Waterproof-All-Player/dp/B00ICI7FIM/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Otherwise I always think a Lumia 520 would make a decent Wi-Fi only option, way more functionality than dedicated MP3 players with Wifi, BT, GPS, Nokia MixRadio etc on there

I bought a 4/8Gb (can't remember) no-name MP3 player from Amazon that has a clip that gets attached to my shorts/tshirt. Has around 3hrs battery life...

It's basic, but it cost me £6 or something.

I don't run or do cardio, so I can't comment on how suitable it is, but it works for weightlifting...

I thought about some kind of Ipod, but not having one before, does iTunes work like other MP3 transfers do? What I mean by that is I have hundreds of songs/Albums on my PC and on disc at home that I just copy across to the phone when I want something different on there. Can I do that with an Ipod, or do all the songs have to be bought through iTunes?

And, I know it sounds daft, but don't really want to go the route of the built in MP3 player in the earphones as I have a decent set of earphones that I really like.

Orange San Diego, was sub £50, had decent storage and I had a spare EE PAYG sim to throw in. Plus, its actually a reasonable handset to use speed wise and the battery life is decent!

Had some problems using my Windows Phone handset for the same tasks for some reason.

Sansa Clip all the way. Pretty cheap (about £40), micro sd card slot, good battery life, small and lightweight and as the name suggests has a clip. I usually have it in my pocket but when I need too I clip it on the sleeve on my Tshirt, seems secure enough and has never fallen off.

Yeah duh I totally forgot that, was trying to think of an equivalent to the iPod that wasn't so tied to iTunes but absolutely one of them :p

Sansa Clip Zip (+ Rockbox), clipped to arm sleeve, bottom of T-Shirt or edge of shorts pocket.

Cheers for the suggestions guys, looks like the general feeling is the Santa Clip so will look into getting one of them. Cheers all.
