I was going to buy one of these... why dissapointing??

as a music player they are very good. The only real problems are the lack of codec support and the fact it cant be customised like the h320's could. didnt stop me buying one though, and IMO there only the iaudio's and the monoliths have better SQ which is most important to me.

about 9-10 hours if i remember, and 2-3 hours for a video. somebody will probably correct me though.
I have the 30gb ipod video and its great, its about 10-11 hours of audio or 2 hrs of video. For 60 gb its 11-12 hrs audio, 3 hrs video.

is it possible to fit a new battery ? Im really not liking the idea of spending £200 on a ipod only for the battery to last a few hours after a few months of use. Thats where the iaudio is ahead as well as its huge spec leaving the ipod behind.

what about the skiping i have asked about. thats quite important as i wil likwly try to use it in the gym.

thanks

Not had any personal experience, but from what I read on various sites, flash players have no skipping whatsoever, and because of taht, are better for running, gym etc, but are low on space (if you decide to go this route, i recommend the iaudio u2 :). Have it and love it :D) hard disk players on the other hand can skip. No idea how likely this might be to happen, but acc. to the reviews, its possible.

Oh btw, about the U2, it doesn't have a colour screen, so if you want that, go for the u3 :) Plays video as well, but on that size screen, pretty pointless.

The iAudio is not masive - its about same size as G4 iPod.

Why the H10 is dissapointing?

Well iRiver had been releasing fantastic players - they had line in and out - also mic in - some even had digitial optical out. But along came the H10 - it was a downgrade in every sence - even sound quality was not so good.

Yea. The iAudio is really not that big, especially when I first looked at it. Strictly speaking, neither is the Creative M:Vision.
But along came the 5G iPod. This series took high capacity portable players to a new level in terms of compactness.

Still, if the player is to be used transportably (i.e. stuck in a bag rather than a pocket), then the iAudio is fine.

still better than virtually everything else.

most serious DAP forums dont rate it because it doesnt have a dedicated line out to drive an external amp, which is what most serious peopel on DAP forums want to do;) in that respect, even the ipods are better. Makes no difference though, there isn't much better than the H10's for driving a pair of earphones, other than the older irivers, and as i said before the iaudio's and the monoliths. man i want a monolith with proper wolfson dacs and a 56mw combined output.

also no doubt somebody will be along to tell us how good the ipaq is lol

To be honest, I don't see why they don't all throw an optical out like earlier iRivers (and many CD players).

Add that to all players with large storage (that are transportable more than portable in the first place), and there is less reason to worry which has a better SQ. Of course, good SQ out of the earphone out is nice - but so subjective (I've not tried the Monolith, but straight out of an UM2, I don't find the iAudio X5 to outclass the 5G iPod).

The 5g iPod is similar in sound to iAudio - only thing iAudio has got over 5g iPod is that its got user EQ that the ipod does not have.

TooNice have you tried Sony EX71 tips on your UM2s yet?

Have a look at my Headfi post on it http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=146173
