now called digital audio players.

Does anybody have one ? Is it worth it ? Do you use it as in input into a hifi amp using a DAC lead ?

A recent edition of Computer Active praises them highly. I had one years ago, but not now.

primarily something which will plug into my rotel amplifier, and speakers. I'm too old to be bothered about setting up streaming systems etc, I had a squeezebox and it doesn't work anymore.

I am using my tablet and DAC lead to input into it, I've been told to think about bluetooth amps, wiim systems, all sorts of things. A wiim is a possibility, but my rotel is 30 years old, I'm also thinking of buying a new one.

The portability factor of an mp3 player is appealing too.

Yes I've still got mp3 players, but they're not as good as my squeezebox as the squeezebox has app control, lots more features and accesses the TB of music.

A phone or your tablet means you have the same music (if not more due to SD storage) and access to streaming and music on your NAS.

Limit on music on mp3 player will just be on the smaller capacity SD card or HDD

I use an ipod (classic 5th gen)daily just with headphones, i have used other mp3 players so just wanted to throw in if you go down a mp3 player/dap way a lot of them have terrible user interfaces especially with large libraries. Just something to be aware of.
