Can someone recommend one?

I have one, but I am sure its the reason for funky colours... I can't remember where I got the codec but will find out when I get home.

:)

forget all that, get K-Lite Codec Pack and it will install every codec there is, been using this for the last 2 years and its great.

oh it installs Media Player Classic with added features, like a broken divx can still be viewed n stuff

Really don't do that, installing every codec under the sun will only cause you problems in the long run. Just search these forums for problems people have had with them. Why do you need a load of crap you'll never use? Just install what you need one at a time.

sound advice

codec packs are bad

try ffdshow (its a filterpack, not a codec pack, so doesn't clog up your system, and is easily removable)

that should allow you to play mp4 video

use media player classic with it
