EDIT : Updated 16th September 2019

Editable spreadsheet to compare mileages against mpg for both Petrol and Diesel Cars.

Find this useful to refer back to when considering a new car or comparing costings on diesel vs petrol.

I can't find somewhere to upload that wont compress the spreadsheet but this is the best size I can get at the moment.

Nice, it really shows how little the differences are. You could always put it on Google Docs as an uneditable spreadsheet? It think Google docs will import an xls file.

Ok will give that a go now. Just wanted it as an imagefile so people didn't have to click to access.

Updated OP with link to Google Docs spreadsheet :)

If anyone would actually like more MPG figures left or right you can do it yourself now :p

Very good, now why not have the formulae pointing at a couple of source cells with the fuel prices in them, so you just have to plug the current fuel price in and it recalculates itself. Now you know about absolute and relative cell references and sensitivity analysis, i.e. how much difference does a 10p rise in fuel make to someone doing 10k miles per annum at 35 mpg.

No sorry was going to go up in increments of 2 but the spreadsheet was getting a little big for a Sunday night :p

Can add it in later if you want?

Why don't people just work it out? It isn't that hard.

annual mileage / mpg = number of gallons per year

gallons * 4.55 = number of litres per year

litres * price per litre = total year cost

Alright Carol Vorderman. Spreadsheets are easier, fact!
