MPG...

I dont understand why there is even an arguement here. 5 adults are going somewhere, so quite obviously the Omega is the car to take. Take the 2 litre one.

The corsa will not be the most economical. My 2.0 volvo returns roughly the same MPG on the motorway as our 1.1 106 did. Obviously round town or stop start traffic the volvo is lousy, but in a straight line at 70 or 80 the Volvo is not underpowered and is relatively unstressed at about 3k where the 106 was at about 4000rpm and straining.

My money is still on the Omega or the Mondeo :)

I'd also agree with the sod the economy and go with comfort approach. That's not the Corsa or Escort :D The most you will save is about £15 which split 5 ways is £3.

4 adults are going to be sharing petrol and you're concerned about economy? The difference between taking the 2.5l or taking the Corsa is probably about a quid each.

Go for comfort and just skip the motorway service station lunch if you're concerned about the extra cost.

Personally not bothered, wouldnt mind me not driving but cost I dont really mind/care mondeo guy aint too bothered either, its the other 2 stingy ones.

Lets imagine you decide to drive from one end of the country the other. Devon to Yorkshire!

A good 800-1000 mile round trip. Thats what, even in the least economical car on a cruise about £100-£120 tops?

£25 each?

Seriously, is the saving really worth thinking about?! OMG the Corsa might cost you all £20 each! Its not worth it, is it?

Edit: What eidolon said.

Pay the extra if there is any extra to pay and take the very superior car over the Corsa.

Which is obviously the Mondeo/Omega. And give your pals a slap for even owning a Corsa, never mind wanting to take one on a motorway and causing mayhem on Britain's roads.

This.

You have the choice of cars made for the job and one car made to transport old ladies to the supermarket.

If you want to dig a trench and you have the choice of a spoon for 50p or a Shovel for £15, what would you go for?

I think mr Corsa is very silly :p

I would hate to be in a 1.0 corsa on a long journey, you'd go stir crazy. Sometimes it's worth spending a little extra on fuel to arrive at your journey without a splitting headache and a numb backside.
