MS almost completed purchase of Capcom (Rumour)

There will always be competition in the gaming industry. One company goes out of it, another will come in. It would take a long time for Sony to die (if it were to happen) as it's such a big brand with a massive hold over the gaming industry, but they are losing their grip. If this rumour turns out to be true, Sony will eventually fall.

I also happen to think M$ are as innovative as they need to be, their software products, whilst not perfect, get better all the time, same goes for their hardware.

I would rather see Sony survive, purely because they too make good products, a lot of which I own, but I do feel they have dropped the ball with the PS3, but I still really want one.

More significant could be that the founders of Rare, the Stamper brothers have left. With Rare not doing much recently it'll be interesting to see what the Stampers do...

yes but MS are of uch a magnitude that perhaps no-one wil be able to remove their stranglehold of digital content in the household?

PC's linked to XBOX360 through vista etc. they are locking the consumer in, and potentially cornering the market.

How much innovation do you see in MS office each year? or in many of MS's products? remove sony from the equation, and what are you left with?

Not only that, but while Sony had excellent relationships to garner exclusives (Konami and Rockstar are perhaps the biggest two), they didn't buy them. I don't mind exclusives, but not because a studio is owned by a console manufacturer.

Still, I'd rather Capcom be bought out rather than go under. It really surprises me they're in such financial difficulty.

None, they have just been moving the options around since Office 95 and charging a fortune for training courses on how to find all yer options and settings again. Bain of my life tbh.

As for the rumour, never gonna happen, and tbh i don't think it will be good for gaming. You need independant gaming studios. its bad enough EA absorbing loads of companies. And i hate MS buying up software companies just to avoid paying patents etc etc. It's not good for the software industry, wouldn't be good for gaming neither.
It will be a sad day if someone as big as capcom get bought by MS. it would be just as bad if Sony done it too imho.
Anyway isn't the next DMC (4?) and dead rising 2 PS3 exclusives?
Would be funny if that is contracted in, Microsoft game studios appearing when booting a PS3 game disk.

I heard the opposite that DMC will come to the 360 after the PS3, haven't heard anything to suggest that Dead Rising 2 is going to be on the PS3 though.
