MS Animated Cursor bug?

Hi all,

There's a lot of noise atm about this Animated Cursor bug that allows hackers to take over pc etc... Also the patch is semi useless and causes a lot of pain too from what The Inq says. My question is, if i use the standard white cursor thats default will i be affected?

Just get the fix, there is one problem with realteks software and there is already a fix out for it.
Nothing is going to work perfectly but at the end of the day its better than a trojan

As far as I am aware firefox doesn't have the problem but I may be wrong.

AFAIK the bug can be taken advantage of by a webpage / email regardless of browser or what cursors you're actually using. There have been reports of problems with the patch (as extreme as it causing Vista installations not to boot), but lots of people (including myself) haven't had any problems with it at all.

Yes it high risk -- just update from Microsoft as it fixed the patch, see this link >> http://secunia.com/

just use Firefox 2 or Opera 9 or IE7 in Vista that would be ok -- just keep watch.
