ms silverlight?

I hope they can solve one of the most annoying problems with flash and silverlight pages for me, the page capturing keyboard shortcuts instead of the browser. I always use things like ctrl+t/l/k/d but they don't work on such pages :(

Adobe/macromedia were asking for something like silverlight to come along - they've had so many opportunities to fix the various shortcomings of flash over the years.

As it stands since flash was launched an eternity ago we've seen virtually no decent, userside-visible progress to it other than perhaps the way it handles video.

I hope silverlight knocks it well outta orbit

Bump!

Are people using Silverlight 1 or Silverlight 2.0? Got an update notice on FileHippo for v2.0 and wondered how stable it was and is it better/worth it over v1?

I installed it last week so I could watch the live streaming video of Diggnation being recorded in Amsterdam. I was suprised at how smooth and clear the video was considering it was a live stream, I was very impressed with it, much better than a lot of live streams I've seen before done in flash.

Doesn't work in the Fx3 nightlies (ergo the betas) and hasn't for long enough - shows up as installed, but going to a Silverlight site fires prompts to install it in an endless cycle.

It works in Fx2 here, but it doesn't copy the DLL that's mentioned in about: plugins into the plugins folder.
Tried copying it myself to the plugins directory for Fx3, but it did nothing.

Edit: it's mentioned in pluginreg.dat (%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox for Fx <3, in your profile for Fx3) as well, including a reference to the plugin (c:\Program Files\Microsoft Silverlight\npctrl...dll), so I'm guessing that's how it doesn't need to be copied into place.
