I'm trying to help a contact with a memory upgrade for an MSI 975X Platinum motherboard and he's bough a 2 x 2GB PC6400 upgrade kit but can't boot into Vista 32bit with both DIMMS installed. He's tested both separately and they work fine, just won't boot into Vista. He knows he's only going to be able to use 3.blah GB of it in 32 bit Vista but what could be preventing the boot with both DIMMs? This is with a Q6600 installed.

Cheers

Does he have the latest BIOS? There may have been an update.

I'm using the 975x Plat PowerUpEd with a Q6600 and 4Gb ram OK (4x1Gb tho).

I assume he is setting the required voltage for the sticks?

975X has no problems with 2x2 so neither should the MSI, I'd be looking at config/RAM issues.

There's enough voltage according to the manufacturer specs ( Crucial - 1.8v) but have found there's a bios update from MSI to V7.90 but can't get the bloody MSI Live Update thing to work now!
