MSI Afterburner 2.1.0 beta 7 released

I'm really confused. I've tried everything, including completely removing everything and reinstalling, but I still cannot get past 840.

Is it possible that there is some restriction on my card?

No, that is the CCC limit. If you enable the unofficial overclocking it will work!

Glad you got it working.

The fan profile was the most annoying part, if you use a 2d/3d profile as well sometimes it would flip back to 50% when the profile swapped.

So can you actually load profiles on startup with this version? didn't work with the beta 6. Kept reverting to default clocks, but worked if I apply them manually.

Finally got it - I think my text editor (Komodo Edit) uses a character set that Afterburner does not like. Reinstalled and used notepad to modify it and not it works great. Let the fun begin :)

Indeed, got my 6950 unlocked to 975 Mhz on stock 6970 volts last night, did a few passes of Kombustor, Heaven and played Metro 2033 and BFBC2.

It didn't go higher than 80c either.

Happy days!!!

I had a different experience. Mine crashed in Heaven at 1.2v 925/1425.

I've stepped it back to 900/1350 at 1.15v, however after just looking, it seems to have forgotten my settings since rebooting, and now when I try to increase either they disappear on clicking apply or restarting afterburner. Any ideas?

My 6950>70 got to 960 Mhz on stock 6970 volts, so eased of a little to 950, max temps 58c on Kombustor using 5870 AC extreme cooler:D.
Anybody know what safe voltage you can put the flashed 6950>70 up to?

I've heard 1.3v mentioned, but I'm not keen with upping the voltage too much, personally. It just isn't worth it for a few FPS.

That's what I thought, I never keep the oc on anyway, as the card is fast enough anyway, it's always just a curiosity thing with me.

Agreed, max I would go is 1.2v as that is only a notch higher than the 1.175v of the 6970.

I am running mine at 950 Mhz at the moment with the unlocked shaders, no need for more when I am crunching any fancy 560/570 for £213 :)

I also have my powerplay to +15%!

£217 for me, what a bargain!

'Also, the highest overclock in the world will not make up for the fact that the Galaxy GTX 560 Ti GC is equipped with 1GB of GDDR5 while the Radeon HD 6950 is equipped with 2GB. When you consider the Radeon HD 6950 can also be unlocked and overclocked, we still lean with the Radeon HD 6950 being the better option.'
Galaxy GeForce GTX 560 Ti GC Overclocking Review

According to some people in the forum(you know who you are, is all I'm saying!!!;)) the 560 with an oc is faster and the 570 kills an unlocked 6950 when you apply 4 x aa! Aye right you are. It's there or there abouts with the 570 though.

The benchmarks I was getting last night put it just 3FPS away from a 580 in Crysis :o

This crysis benchmark has 2 AA and 8 AF which is not maxed out though, a stock 6950, has faster minimums than a 580, which in itself is pretty damn good going imo. I think the 2gb frame buffer is doing it's work there.

anyone with xfire please tell me, what does this version offer that the others didnt
i dont see what all the talk of fan profiles is about, everything has always worked for me,

i installed new afterburner, was playing with oc'ing (was overvolting to 1250v but i got the crash and then went back to default voltage), now everything is on default but when i try to play any games my card just heats up so quickly to 90c and then i'm getting drivers crash. Never had this before, looks like that temp just goes up, and increasing fan to 42% doesn't help to stop it, before it never go up more than 40% with oc. will try to looks for solution tomorow. and now my idle temps is around 48c, that's quite high...
