Hey guys,

Just finished some CS on my new GPU. Now, I went into AB to check my temps on CPU / GPU and checked the power output..peak..371W !!

Now, is the Wattage for the GPU solely or is that system draw? I mean, 371W!

just to add - according to MSI AB, my GPU (while under light load) is sitting around 45-50c, with the fans off, i think they come on at 60c..

is that reasonable? im assuming its the extra power, not being the most efficient GPU in the world these days? :(

Just undervolt it, I've only slightly undervolted mine (FE) to 0.95v but it stays locked at 1980mhz during gaming so actually performs slightly above where it would be left at stock.

You can undervolt it much more aggressively and still run it around 1900mhz and only lose a few percent of the performance.

You can also save the faffing about with undervolting as every card needs a bit of trial an error to find the most stable UV, instead just lower the power limit in MSIAB. 80% is typical but you could go as low as 65% and still get good performance. I don't recall what the difference is on a 30 series but on a 4090 the loss is 4fps average, so basically nothing.

thanks for this. the simpler the better for me!

So, literally move the slider down from 100%?

nothing else, seems too good to be true..

im guessing this is the equivalent of my putting my CPU into "eco" mode, and running at 65W?

Still get good performance and better temps etc..

It's as easy as that. Just make sure that the blue windows logo is enabled so that the power limit is applied at startup:

It's realtime too so you can adjust it on the lfy whilst gaming and see the immediate power draw affect it has if you go back into AB/HWINFO64 etc.

thanks @mrk

I have put it down to 85% for now. The only issue im getting is the Windows logo at the top is "greyed out". I cant click or amend with it??

Got it sorted thanks mate. It was locked on the profile tab, soon as i unlocked it, it let me set the Windows icon!

Cheers again mate!

quick update, had a quick blast on Dead Space (2023) and my Wattage draw was 370, now 300, fan speed on the GPU was less (so quieter), FPS and settings were still very respectable at 2K for a game like DS!
