Keyboard lights on my gs70 are the same. They are very subtle, the lights are obscured when typing making them unnoticeable unless you are in a dark room. If you look at an angle then yes you can see them quite clearly. You also have a hot key to turn off the lights.
Personally I like subtle things, these lights aren't as outrageous as they look in the pictures.
 
Cracking product, not what I'm after at the moment, but full marks to MSI for rolling out something with a screen of that DPI.
 
Just received mine. Haven't had time to do anything yet apart from update Windows and upgrade to 8.1. However I have noticed that there are a couple of mistakes in the web page spec.

1. The HDD is 1TB rather than 750GB.
2. No VGA port, but 2 Mini Display Ports.

Don't need VGA so that's not a problem. Don't know what speed the different HDD runs at yet.

Just noticed it is still written in the write-up/info, Gibbo.

"Matrix display features MSI innovative design with 3 external screen display capabilities, allowing you to output to 3 displays simultaneously using HDMI 1.4, mini Display-Port 1.2 and VGA port. Users can work with multi-task at same time."

Hoping to get one of these for work, if management approve.
