About 6 months ago i built a cheap system for a friend i used a msi k7n2 delta 2 platinum socket a mobo and other value components from oc.

Well it ran super did everything thrown at it until a week or so ago it lost sound.

after a lot of checking i am begining to think there is a fault with the mobo i am runing the onboard sound and checked it is on in the bios (auto) reinstalled windows latest bios chipset sound drivers etc tryed tested speakers and so on even reinstalled windows

ime at a dead end anyone come across onboard sound problems with this mobo or any ideas

(my next step is to put in a sound card) and see if it works

thanks monty

msi k7n2 delta2 platinum mobo (socket A)
2800 athlon Processor
120 gb western dig HD
1 gig of ocuk value memory
radeon 9550 radeon 256 ddr G.Card
non branded 350w psu

look i know this isnt what you whant to hear but that mobo is utter turd.
i baught one way back when they was first released cost me 80 notes after a few weeks i lost all usb ports my pal with the same board as me had issues with the duel channel slots.
get your friend to buy a cheap one from somewhere as far as i know these forums have sections for used parts anything is better than that board if he keeps it he will have more trouble.

thanks for that comrad started searching for a replacement board socket A are cheap enough now will have to see abt sending the board back or something

Ive got one, and the sound died rather soon on it. Good clocker thought, but costs a lot of money to have broblems with it.

found a spare sound card temp fix for the problem will see how it goes anything else dies it will have to be returned to manufacturer i wonder if theese board can be replaced only socket A boards are becoming fast out dated by the newer stuff???

thanks for your replys folks regards monty

Find it strange there's lots of negitive comments on these boards. I ran my [email protected] and 2gig of ram for 6 months solid as a rock on my K7n2 Delta2-fsr and never had 1 problem with the board.
I know it might sound stupid but are you sure you haven't changed the speaker config or got it set on optical instead of the normal jacks??
I know its not the point, but onboard sound is usually pretty poor anyways and a half decent sound card will give you loads better sound quaility and take some load of your cpu.
