MSI MPG-274URF-QD and using the inbuilt KVM or do I look for an alternative with some sort of KVM hub?

Hi all, I run an MSI MPG-274URF-QD monitor with a basic KVM function.

It only has one USB type B for connecting the PC for the USB hub/KVM function, then two USB A for the keyboard/mouse. Last connection is the USB C.

Am I correct in assuming I simply need to connect the USB-C cable to the second PC? Should this be USB C to USB C or type A or display port? I will probably need 3m maybe 5m if I can't move the PC closer.

If I can get the above to work it would be great, as desktop space is always an issue, and limited to what I currently have regarding space, 120mm wide, 80mm deep. I have a 27" monitor with a 24" monitor in portrait next to it, pair of desktop speakers, USB dac, Xbox charger, lamp, headphone stand

Another thing I was wondering, is there any sort of monitor stand that doubles as a KVM hub? Or decent combination of monitor stand/usb hub with maybe even USB 4 options, and a seperate KVM hub that lives underneath? Or would I be better off investing in some sort of dual monitor stand, even contemplating dropping the second monitor.

No experience with KVM. But would simply like to run a couple of PC's that are a reasonable distance from the same monitor without too much mess, and simplify it all with a single keyboard/mouse and some sort of well specced USB hubs. Desk is a continual mess.

I have a Gigabyte KVM monitor, so it should be the same.

The KVM is for desktop PC and laptop setup. The desktop PC plugs into the monitor’s USB-B and HDMI/DP ports. The Keyboard and mouse plugs into the monitor’s USB-A ports. The laptop plugs into the USB-C port.

To switch between the 2, you either press a dedicated KVM switch or via the monitor’s menu.
