MSI officially announces GTX 1070 quality problems in China

QA problems in China are a result of poor AIB management. At least they have ack it, quantified it and put in place a strategy to rectify it. Nil issues apart from that, they are doing the right thing here.

Gradually lost faith in their QA and QC overtime. It's as though they enforce it half-arsedly.

Well, that sucks.
I really liked the MSI cards, had a 660 and 670 in the past and they were great.

Shame they decided to whack their prices up to £50 more than other providers and are having quality issues as well..

Well I cancelled my order for the MSI 1070 Armor (placed elsewhere). Didn't want to take the risk of getting a bad card, even if the risk is relatively low. At this price point there should be better QC, so I'll wait and see how it unfolds.

Fact of the matter is, trust is hard to come-by, and with this MSI have planted seeds of doubt in people's minds, much like how the 840 EVO debacle did. So this moves MSI down a notch, and it's not like they've ever been more than just middle-of-the-road anyway. Nvidia -> EVGA. AMD -> pray like hell.

Hi there

All our 1070 FE stock is Samsung. :)

Gigabyte 1070 G1 is Samsung.
Gainward is all Samsung.
Inno3D is all Samsung.
KFA2 is all Samsung including blower one at £368.99 :)
Zotac is all Samsung.

Cannot comment on Asus and MSI, as the batches are small and often so there could be a mix of Samsung and Micron, impossible to seperate.

Does EVGA have micron?

I had a terrible time with MSI when I bought a MSI Gaming Twin Frozr GTX970.
Pre-ordered it and got it 2 days after release.

Don't know if anyone remembers this issue...

About a month later after playing games and the card being under load, instead of the fans idling, one would stop and the other would spin up to 100% causing an awful din!
After rebooting to solve this both fans would then stick and you could physically see them =trying to start up, clicking away but going nowhere until they were given a little nudge.

MSI refused to admit this problem despite it being well documented around various corners of the net.

Trying to get MSI customer services was a nightmare at the time as they would only deal with you via their help forums! The forum admins were appalling and frankly stupid.
Eventually I managed to get an email for MSI and they returned mt mail telling me to RMA it with the vendor. The vendor took it back and ran a 3D Mark test.....no way does that replicate the issue, it was a fan issue not video issue...the daft gets. The vendor passed their findings to MSI who then refused to assist me further as the vendor had tested...the thickoid vendor who hadn't a clue what they were doing!

I was left with a faulty card that cost me well over 300 quid.

Cut a long story short I contacted Citizens Advice and threatened the vendor with small claims. I eventually got a refund but, only because I did not lie down to it.

MSI....worst CS ever, treated me like a liar!

Hmmm just checked my armor oc and it's got micron however i was playing GTA V all morning without any issues and that was with the +100 and the memory +400 I did have a few issues when I installed it yesterday with massive screen corruption not sure if it was driver related or accidentally changing the ram oc in afterburner to +650!

The Micron stuff does not like going above +500 it seems very quickly get artefact around or above that going by my experience and what others have said while a fair few have the Samsung stuff well over 600.

Cheers for the info I will have another tweak tomorrow to see the max I can get out of it stable.

Is there any more info on this yet? My MSI Armor 1070 OC came yesterday and has Micron memory. I never really intended to overclock it but messed around today for a bit and seems to be OK up to +475 and after that minor artifacts start appearing.

Might return it though because it has a bit of coil whine which is annoying.

Might have to return mine more testing today and I randomly get a checkerboard effect on the desktop and the pc reboots....... installed the card yesterday and it's happened maybe four times....great reading reports on their returns reputation this could be stressful.

Just deal with the vendor.
