as most of you guys would know i have brought a msi p45 diamond to replace my asus striker. but i have encounter some major issues while testing and overclock my pc.

first of all the msi bios is pretty confusing it took me a while just to understand whats going on, but the main problem is it refuses to boot into windows regardless what changes i made to the clock speed of both cpu and ram

secondly the bios wouldnt let me to unlink the ram speed and the bus speed of the cpu, hence i am unable to run my ram at its proper speed. i have encountered these two problems on my bro's msi p45 neo-f as well

have anyone manage to oc a msi mobo or gotten around these problem, please enlighten me...

Ive never got an MSI LGA775 board to overclock. All the normal options were there and even with very minor changes it either refused to boot or just reverted to standard values and booted windows.

Have asked around and read around a few times with no joy =[

No problems on a P45 Platinum here. Mine easily get's my E8500 to it's max of 4.5Ghz and i am hoping it will get my Q9550 past 4Ghz as well. The P45 Platinum is capable of 550 fsb from some results over at the XS forums. I would assume the Diamond being the top end board would be capable of similar speeds. Have you flashed to the latest bios?

a little update:

i managed a pretty unstable oc by using the on-board jumpers to oc the bus speed to 400 with lower ram speed (800mhz), but it still couldnt let me change any settings in the bios other than underclocking...how can anyone get around that?!

i tried changing the bus speed of the cpu by a 10mhz interval and set the ram ratio to 1:1. but it would not post if a increase it to anything.

I checked on the MSI forum and it told me to RTFM! How rude, so I advise you to buy an asus or gigabyte instead and sell your MSI.

i wanted a gigabyte to start with...but the msi was the only one s775 mobo available that uses ddr3 and has two pci-express slot that doesnt cost a fortune.

i am not going back to asus after what happened to my asus striker ii extreme...i even rma'ed it, got it back and it still didnt last two days. i emailed them they said they will check and reply asap, but it has been two weeks since the 6 weeks rma is over annd still no reply.
