Hi all. I've just put together my nice shiny new build after purchasing the parts here last week. I'm not getting a post screen tho :-(

When I power on, everything fires up and after a couple of seconds I get 3 beeps followed by one quick higher beep then 5 more lower beeps in sequence. The aps lights on the board show phase 3. I'm stuck and a little miffed. Can anyone help?!

Have you double checked that all power connectors are properly connected?

Have you connected power to your graphics card?

Make sure your RAM is seated correctly.

Yep. Plugged in the 2 power connectors to the board and gfx card has power. I've took out and replugged the ram. Still no luck.

Sorry:

Mobo: msi p67a gd55
CPU: intel i5 2500k 3.30ghz
Gfx: nvidea 6700gt pci e
Power: bequiet l7 530W
Ram: 8gb gskill ripjaws* 1600mhz dual channel

Go back to basics, make sure all power cables are correctly in place, check fan headers and cpu header connection, check ram is seated and notched in, make sure any cards are home in the motherboard etc.

Ok. Will check again but I've been through everything so many times. Stressing me now! The only thing I've not done is remove the heatsink and fan and re do that. There's nothing to say what that beep sequence signifies.

Unfortunately not no. Thing is, I get the weird beeps but then the keyboard lights up. Makes me wonder if everything is ok and it could be the gfx card. But then. Would I get the beeps because of that?!

Do you know what type of bios is on your MSI board? I recall 3 beeps on certain bios was a RAM issue.

If you have checked all connectors then mostly likely a problem with RAM or GPU?

This is the limit of my help I'm afraid, perhaps someone more able can help you.

It's an old gfx card. The only thing I didn't update on this build actually. I'm not 100% on what the bios is.

it's an ami bios, i looked at the beep codes but the generic one's are all listed as a total number of beeps, not staged like the op suggested, the link to the document is here, on the last page.

There are also boot block beeps and post beeps.

As a warning to others.......................no roadrunner stuff please:D

Hmm. It's not even posting so I get a total of 8 beeps in varying tones and speeds. I'm starting to wonder about the gpu. My old system stopped booting so this system is my replacement. The olny thing I've not replaced is the gpu.

As a test. I removed the gpu completley and rebooted. I get the same beeps

which might mean even when it's connected to the motherboard it is not seen. Tough one this, which pci express socket do you have it installed in, and whichever way you currently have it, move it into the other one.

Is there no way to get another card in there to test, how about a friends computer, you only need for 10 mins, another computer in the house?

It won't boot without a GPU installed hence the beeps. The P67 motherboards don't support the intergrated graphics on the CPU.

I expect your problem is related to your GPU.
