I've Tried both pcie sockets. I think I'm gonna try and get a replacement from members mkt. I don't game so anything working and relatively good will do. No other comps in the house so I'm stuck!!

I know. I'm confident everything new (mobo, CPU, cooler, memory and power supply) is set up correctly. Unless ive somehow blown the CPU I'm really hoping it is the gpu that's the prob. I always worry "have I put too much thermal paste on the CPU...is the heatsink on ok etc etc " but I've never had this kind of issue before. Just praying the change of GPU will sort it.

Sounds like a good idea. Will be interesting to see result.

just to follow this up, i've got the new system up and running and i'm currently installing software. in the end, it was the GFX card causing all the issues. All sorted now thank God!

Cheers guys...so, I didn't REALLY need to upgrade at all. That said, this new setup is flying!! Absolutley wipes the floor with my old system. The only small niggle I have is the huge cpu heatsink & fan are too big for my case! I can't put the side on it!

ha ha ha ha.......................know what you mean lol, i'm running a Noctua dh14, you should have seen my face when I unpacked it :eek:

, it was worth it though
