Hi

Pretty much decided on the following mobo and a i5-2500K

MSI P67A-GD65

But was wondering about memory!?

Was going to get:
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) [CMX8GX3M2A1600C9]

If only because I've never had any problems with Corsair before.

But have seen some comments on the WEB about the OC Genie not liking memory running at anything other than 1133Mhz.

Anyone out there know if there is any truth in this? or if 8GB (rather than 4GB) is a possible issue as well!?

Thanks.

Hiya...

I'm no expert by any means (as you can see by some of my recent posts! ;)) but I can tell you that the Corsair memory you mention works just fine with the MSI motherboard (so far anyway, I've only had it in for 2 days! :p)

You need to enable the XMP to get it running at 1600MHz or just set it manually - but its working just fine!!

Hope this helps....

Thanks for that. Your basic system looks identical to what I'm looking at. Always nice to get that "feel good factor" from seeing a particular configuration actually up and running for someone.

Question... Have you tried the OC Genie? or is your OC set manually?

Thanks.

PS. I see you have a 460 GTX as well. So I'm assuming no problems in this mobo for it. Good....

I did try the OC Genie and it happily clocked my system to 4.2GHz but a few people on the forums suggested the volts looked a little high so I decided to give it a go myself!

Here is my thread for my experiences: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18274797

And yes, the GTX460 is working nicely and I can always add another in SLI later on down the line if my system starts to struggle!

Thanks again.

Just spotted your OCing thread and in the process of reading it + the Bit-tech OC guide.

Just need to cash that BOND in now to purchase my nice new shiny kit. I was originally going to wait for AMD Bulldozer to come out and see what that looked like. But pretty much decided that I can't be bothered to wait for it to be released and then hanging around for another couple of months to see if any problems crawl out of the woodwork etc.
