At MSI we have been working hard to bring you a brand new range of notebooks based on the latest Nvidia GTX 10xx Graphics or Pascal. Going back to when I first started in the IT industry, the difference between The old GTX 460 and it's equivalent on notebook was night and day. Now with Pascal the difference is minute. That is the reason why the M has been dropped.

Overclockers will have a wide range of models from the MSI range featuring GTX 1060 - GTX 1080. There is a whole host of new features to enhance your gaming and VR experience

Loki, when will the 4k GS63VR be on Overclockers?

Also how does the battery hold up on that particular model? I need a great laptop as of September and i am going to be shedding out £2,000.. I need to know if the laptop will last me a good few hours off battery.

Great.

I actually have been waiting for this for a long time. HOWEVER...i will be waiting longer.. those prices are just too much.

My wife would actually kill me.

Loki, Do both the GS63VR and GS73VR use the same cooler boost trinity cooling? The MSI website uses the same image for the cooling systems on both these laptops so I was wondering if the layout is different due to the laptops' size difference.

Do you have any images of the cooling arrangement inside both of these?

Well done with the MSI laptops. Killing it with the TB3 support etc. Well done. I would love a 4k slim 1060 though, with the option to upgrade GPU via TB3 caddy later.

Is the image shown for the GT73 6FR 035 correct? MSI's website shows a much thicker laptop, and the image appears to be that of the GS73 6FR.

Is the GS43VR coming to the UK?

I use the GS40 for work and can easily get 4 - 5 hours off battery without an issue.

Hi there, the cooling is the same for both GS63VR and GS73VR. How we have achieved this is is that the chassis on the GS73 is now a little bit smaller than previous models like GS70 for example. By using a thinner bezel, we can still maintain 17.3" screen size but a slightly smaller chassis.

Thanks for clarifying,

So from a heat dissipation point of view there is no dofference between a 15" and a 17" chassis? The gt60 and gt70 were quite different if i recall.

I have a gt60 and its really hot and loud and nearly put me off MSI altogether - especially with the design afterthought that is the turboboost mini fan thing(although i will stop there before i get all ranty!), so heat and noise will be an important factor in whatever i purchase.

If its significantly quieter than my gt60 then im in.

Looking at the specs on OCUK are a little confusing.

Do all models have G-Sync or only certain ones?

I'm looking at GT62VR 6RE-023UK which says it's FHD, but the spec on the page says "Display: 15.6 UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS level panel" which is exactly the same as it says on the UHD version (GT62VR 6RE-022UK). Doesn't explicitly mention G-Sync on either of them also.

Just pondering which is the best for me "if" I was to purchase.

Current desktop is an i5 2500K with a GTX 970 which works fine for what I tend to play, which is mostly Blizzard titles. However I'm finding now I'm in my thirties my days of being cooped up in a room with a PC slowly dwindling. Laptop gaming seems to be where I'm heading now that hardware has caught up - I can play on the sofa instead of getting nagged for "spending too much time on that computer!".

If I'm looking at FHD (1080p) and only really play Blizzard games would a 1070 be overkill or would I be better looking at a 1060 (to match roughly my 970 desktop performance)?
I'm thinking the i7 6700HK with GTX 1070 and FHD screen would be an upgrade from my current desktop as well as future proof me for a bit - plus with TB3 I can go eGPU at some point.
Not too bothered by a UHD screen - I've had an XPS13 and a Surface Book (3000x2000) and while display scaling has improved, it's still pretty shocking at times. Plus a 15" screen game UI's are often too small to play without eye strain.

The GTX 1060 on the laptop will outperform a GTX 970 and playing at 1080p on the laptop is a good deal, keep a 1440p or 4k display in your room and sell your rig for when you want some desktop gaming :)

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I've already got a 1440p 144hz G-Sync display on my desktop.

I could use that with either a 1060 or 1070 laptop and ditch the tower.

just noticed there is no mention of g-sync on any of these models....whats the deal with this?

I spotted that too and mentioned it a few posts up.
But I've seen reviews of the same models (I think) which do mention G-Sync - such as http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GT62VR-6RE-Dominator-Pro-Notebook-Review.171215.0.html which I believe is this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-gt62vr-6re-023uk-nvidia-gtx-1070-8gb-gddr5-15.6-fhd-ips-i7-6700hq-gaming-laptop-lt-24e-ms.html (although the resolution is wrong on the spec, copy&paste? :D)

Bit confusing!
