MSi X79A-GD65 [8D] Intel® Gigabit LAN

I'm having problems installing the driver for the on-board network adapter (LAN).

No matter what driver version I use the system freezes during install. I have even tried installing on a fresh install of Windows 8 and still, the same occurs.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or does anyone know a workaround?

I have spent the last 2 days trying to get this up and running and no success whatsoever....

Could something within the BIOS be causing the issue? I have l@@ked through the BIOS but I see nothing which could be changed to fix.

All help appreciated, many thanks in advance...

I have (according to device manager) driver v.12.1.77.00 for the intel LAN sockets on my MSI XPII if that helps.

I've tried that version, the damn thing just won't install.... :'(

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do but if you're trying to install Intel LAN drivers then they're not going to work.

According to the spec from MSI:

Supports one PCI Express LAN 10/100/1000 Fast Ethernet by Realtek 8111E

The drivers to download are available from MSI: http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/X79A-GD65--8D-.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win8%2064

I've selected Win 8 64 bit.

Well, this is where the confusion starts and I thought this...

I previously tried that and no device found...

Device Manager states its an Intel and its also detailed here on the MSi website :/

When I was previously using Windows 7, I used the Intel drivers and all was fine :/

I'm at a loss...

The above website where it states its an Intel LAN is the US so I'm assuming the US Version is different to that from the UK but why do I have a US version? M/B was purchased from Overclockers last year :/

Presumably if you've used the Intel driver before then it's Intel :confused:

Well, I have no idea what could be causing the system to freeze/lockup...

As I said previously, I've tried everything with no luck...

Will have to stick with the Microsoft version of the driver and remember not to update via MSi Live Update :/

If anyone else has had a similar issue to this, I would be interested to know (especially if a fix was found).

Try a earlier version, may help.
