When I sign into MSN I get this message popping up....

Windows Live(TM) Messenger Service Staff says:
Important service announcement: As part of a recent system enhancement, we need you to change your e-mail address to continue signing in to the Windows Live(TM) Messenger Service.

To ensure that your access is not blocked and to learn more, go to http://support.microsoft.com/gp/Messenger/en

Anyone else get this?

p.s. sorry if there is already a thread about this

Same here!

@hotmail.com

Non of that .co.uk or @live.co.uk rubbish!!

Will I have to go emailing loads folk and changing my email on forums and stuff now?

Dont think its a scam, links to an official ms knowledgebase help page.. And yep Azza i'm @hotmail.com too!! Damm i wanna keep it, realy cant be bothered changing over with everyone. What a turd idea microsoft :o

:O Realy! Will leave it alone for now then, defo seems weird. Had my e-mail addy about 7 years and never had anything like this before

After talking with my housemate, we're sure this is a scam. We think that there has been some iframe injection into the official support page giving an exploit.

My advice is not to click the link at all.

You getting the same error?

I am with a .com as well

.com address here, and I have message. Girlfriend has the same thing.

It doesn't make sense for them to force a change of email addresses. They own the domain name, and their systems should be able to route messages and stuff as long as the domains are actually valid.

You would have thought if it was genuine, they would have used an alternative (and less suspicious) way of announcing it other than through a chat box.

Also getting it as a .com - as are my friends and girlfriend with hotmail.com

gmail is being ignored and so is everything .co.uk - I googled it a bit and found the last time this message had really been talked about was in 2006 with yahoo account conflicts, so either something has gone wrong on microsofts end - We're being screwed out of .com emails or a bug is going around (though how it would affect everybody with .com I wouldnt know)

As of it being official, Id say they'd email if it was.

I get this on a @hotmail.com as well.

Any time Microsoft want to contact you about something they do it via email, so no way am I clicking it.

I haven't but I know people who have. I think the address is spoofed (still an open known exploit) and we think there is some script injection as well.

This stinks to high heaven.

Script injection to the local machine?

I am using firefox and just ran a few scans to be sure and all came back clear.

Just signed in a few times and it hasn't come up.

I won't be changing my email address any time soon I think
