anyone else having this error when trying to log in to windows live messenger

error 8000ffff

running on vista 64

cant log on

anyone solve this ?
 
Nope. I'm on MSN now without problems. Haven't had to sign in for a few hours mind. Have you recently installed it? Has it just started?

Is your system clock showing the right time? Googling says it could be because of installing a beta version or perhaps a full version over a beta. Or some parts not properly installed.

What version of WLM is it btw? :)

its the new version 9 that you are forced to upgrade to

ive done everything that google suggested, uninstalled, installed, contacts.msi still no joy

it worked when i first installeed it but didnt use it since as this was a second pc. but is not my main pc so i need to use it again.

im not sure but i think its something to do with office outlook connector, will keep playing around .
 
have installed pidgin for now .. (which seems very nice btw)

but if anyone else has solved this , would be very helpful ?
 
Pidgin is nice. :) Just one or two teething problems that stop me switching over. :(

And I'll let you into a secret. ;) Promise not to tell anyone? OK, I'm not using WLM9. I'm using WLM8.5. :) You DON'T have to use v9.

oh , do tell.. ? how do you keep on 8.5 ? without it forcing you to upgrade//
 
Really mean it when you say, "NAFF OFF!". :D

I remember I did upgrade to v9 but hated it as it just looked like all they'd done was "vistafy" it and make it look all "pwetty". Might be worth A-patching 8.5 as well when you get it all sorted. :)
 
also checkout mess.be for the patcher.

I remove all advertisements and "useless" crap it. Can also add thumbnail avatar pictures on the contact list instead of the default green 'MSN Man thing'.

Whoa! That's what I like to see. :) How did you get that to work. Personally I love 8.5 but I thought that 7.5 would work just as well so I tried that after giving v9 the boot. I just couldn't get it to work. Anytime I ran 7.5 it made me upgrade to v9.
