I've just given up on FB chat because it has a tendency to decide which messages it would like my friends to see and which ones it would rather they didn't, resulting in many " are you still there?" situations.

Well if the stuff I had to say was urgent, I wouldn't be using facebook, I would pickup the phone and make a phone call. BUT. I have many lulz with friends updating eachothers status updates, which isn't necessarily urgent.

I don't use voice with many people, so I just rely on gmail video/voice chat for that

more stable, and less resources used
