MTB Advice.....which one to go for?

Additionally, the Pikes on the Pitch arent full blown Pike forks, they lack some of the features of the real deal ones. It seems Specialized told Rock Shox they wanted pike forks, but with slight differences. and they were contracted to produce them.

still a damn mint bike, but bare that in mind if it would bother you any :)

Ugly as sin that Cannodale frame :p
get .. pitch .. sorry ... not

Ive seen it in the flesh and although its not as sleek as the spesh , theres something strangely appealing about it. I love its rugged purposeful look :).

I sound like a Cannondale Prophet fanboy, am i on commision? haha.

I freakin adore my pitch, but like i say, theres something pretty appealing about prophets

Yeh the Prophet is meant to be a very good bike.

Depends how hard hitting you are on the trail to justify the Pikes with the Pitch.

Me again:)

Managed to find both medium and large in stock....but still unsure on sizing..Im 5ft 11 with 32 inside leg

I cant find one local to test ride .

@Hedge...with you being 6ft 3 what size did you go for the medium or large.

Thanks

may sound like a silly question but have you considered a hardtail biike??

it seems unless you going hardcore racing or races or maybe some high jumps with some expert trails then i dont see why you need full suspen, a good hardtail you can get for around 600+ onw and would be fine for even some hard trails.

remember back suspen seems to need a x amount of weight to take the full potencial of bike so if you lets say below 12 stone you wouldnt see any of the rear suspen.

maybe just look into hardtails they are like the poor mans bike i seen some amazing ones for 1k+ too, merlin ect

Hi mate.

My pitch is a large frame but a very comfortable ride. Ive never tried a medium, but i imagine its perfectly doable even at my height.

Guess some people find a smaller frame more chuckable. Im really happy with the sizing on mine though

Quoted for, er, sense if not truth. For xc and singletrack riding, and even trail centre use up to red, hardtails can make more sense. The bikes you mentioned are all ace, but if you take the same amount of cash and throw it at a hardtail you'll get a better overall spec or reduced weight.

On the other hand, if once you've done a bit of riding you find yourself wanting to hit harder stuff, then the full suss starts to make more sense. And you've got enough to spend here that you won't have to cut too many corners, especially with discounts.

I would not buy an FS for the kind of riding that you want to do, it seems a little bit over the top. The best option would be to buy a decent HT and if you find your riding has become more focused you will have a decent set of components to build an FS around.

Agreed, I wouldnt buy a FS either unless i was hammering down rocks and black trials all over the shop. Just get a good HD, 900+ will get you a cracking bike.

Re the size issue : I'm 5'10 and I ride a hardtail Rockhopper in large and a full suss Stumpy in medium. I honestly can't feel the difference at all.

When I chose the Rockhopper the guy at Evans said the medium was too small as there was a huge amount of seatpost (not over the minimum warning but pretty close to it.)

Then when I got the Stumpy a few months later, the geometry of the the bike meant that medium seemed to be correct.

I guess you're best off trying each!
