MTB Decision Thread

Heh, 2.1 Nevegals measure exactly 2.1 across, on my 717s. They're the freaks in this industry that actually measure their tyres with a ruler, rather than having a marketing man decide how wide they are without ever seeing them. Kenda don't use penis inches :)

(or, if you're Conti, coming up with your own freakish width standard that bears no resemblance to the actual size. Remember, never let Continental back you into a tight parking space. "Loads of room, about 12 inches" crunch "Oh, sorry, we measure our inches differently to everyone else, actually it was only about 6")

Figured I'd bring this thread back up to get some opinions and get some help.

How are you finding the Carrera, as I am looking at getting a Vulcan disc?

My budget is about £300 top end, so if anyone has any other suggestions for a decent mountain bike, feel free to suggest one. I'm also looking at the GT Aggressor since that is also available from halfords and is just in my budget.

Thanks

The Carrera Fury is a good bike and it's cheaper than the GT Aggressor, with better forks too.

It's the XC 3 I'm looking at, which is only £350, so the Fury is a bit outside my budget.

Oops, sorry I thought you were talking about the XC1 for a minute.

The XC3 is definitely a good deal at £350, it would probably be my choice.

Cool, I'm gonna go into Halfords tomorrow and try that and the Vulcan, and see which I prefer. 10% discount because I'm a student as well!
