Hi all,

Wondered if any of you mountain bikers out there could help me. I need to move the front mech out a bit in the below picture as the chain is rubbing against the cage on the front mech.

How do I move the arm/cage out?

Screw the "H" and you will see the mech move slightly. Can't remember which way to turn to move it out more but you can see the mech move as you do it. You are aiming for 0.5-1mm gap between chain and outer plate of the cage.

Remember and do a few revolutions tho as the chain may not necessarily run perfectly straight.

usually clockwise "tightens" the range so H clockwise will move towards the frame and L clockwise moves away from the frame, so H counterclock umm i think.

take it you've adjusted the cable tighter with counterclock on the barrell adjuster to see if that solves the issue?

Adjust the screw only a ¼ turn at a time if you're gonna do that, you could try adjusting the barrel adjusted on the shifter too for small adjustments.

All sorted guys, thanks for the help. I ended up loosening the cable off, bringing the H and L pins up and putting pressure on the cage to move it into the place I wanted, moving the pins into place, and then tightening up :D

Maybe it's the picture but to me it looks like you've only got one chainring so who needs the front mech anyway :p
