much difference between oldand new spinpoints?

well i need another hard drive and i can either get a 500gb spinpoint of older variety or newer 320gb f1 for same price.

is there much difference in speed between them?

Can get yourself a newer 500GB for that. A 7200.12 here for example. Sounds like you're after a storage drive anyway? In which case capacity is more important than speed.
