Ok trying to upgrade one of my rigs, originally had a GTX285 in second PCIe slot, driving a dvi-vga connection, running windows 7.
Ploppped in a 250GTS into PCIe slot number one, hooked another vga connection onto this to drive a seperate monitor (well, tv in this case).
On reboot, both cards detected, windows uses PCIe slot one as primary, and runs display off that. can't for the life of me get nvidia control panel or windows 7 to detect the old monitor to extend windows desktop.
The funny thing is on checking BOINC messages, its detected both cards, and its running the 285, not the 250.... which i guess is good, as I aint loosing any points by having this set up yet....just want the 250 in the game as well hehe

right numpty. couldnt detect cos the vga adapter had fallen off. grr.

So now I can detect, extend, but BOINC doesn't want to use the GPU still. Any ideas?

you can't run two different GPU architectures in the same computer as far as I am aware.

GTX285 is G200 and GTS250 is basicaly a 9800+ or G92 architecture

Yeah my bad. Looks like it might work after all with <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> in the cc_config.xml

phew! you had me planning in my head how to move motherboards and cases and graphics cards again in order to maximise output....
almost hit a buy it button too! :p

Can confirm that the above method works, have both running now.
i need to move out of the matx form factor though I think. everything is running really hot in there.
