i recently bought a Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2+ Multi Media Player.

i hope this is a correct enough thread for this forum, as it involves external pc SSD connectivity.

i got this for my dad, so he can watch films on his tv in his living room without having to bring the laptop in and plugging it into the tv.

the Sumvision recognises usb sticks, but not external hard drives, but it is supposed to.

other people are saying that they use 1tb hard drives with it no problem.

i thought it was a power issue, so i tried a powered 1tb drive, still nothing shows up under usb connectivity.

both hard drives are working fine on my pc.

does anyone have any experience with this?

it could be that it isn't powered enough. i had a similar problem with a Sumvision Cyclone. the method i used to correct it was to use a double male to single male USB splitter cable and plug both ends into the media player and the single into the external drive. i now have an externally powered drive for my media player, but my suggestion should get it up and running

have you got a picture of that cable so i can buy it on ebay?

i cannot find any products that match a cable that is double male to single male USB splitter cable.

sumvision contacted me and said micro 2 (i'm sure he mains micro 2+, as there is no micro 2) works only with:

  1. NTFS format
  2. partition is MBR

i recall the instructions saying that the sumvision works with ntfs and fat32?
mbr partition?
i don't recall even reading this in the instructions.
my hard drive is straight forwards storage, i didn't create any partitions?
