Multi-Monitor behavior in Windows - Switching inputs

I have a three monitor setup.

2x DELL u2415 either side and a Alienware AW34 Ultrawide OLED all connected to a Nvidia 4070ti running well.

I use one of the DELL 24" monitors frequently for other inputs (Testing / building other machines) whilst still using my main machine. Each time I switch the input on the monitor Windows pauses, to reshuffle the Windows displays, like you were un/plugging it in. It's still plugged in and all of the Windows open on this monitor still remain open on it (In the space, if that makes sense) so the monitor is still active in Windows. It's quite likely I switch straight back, therefore another 5/6 seconds of activity.

Is there anyway to stop the shuffling? I'm sure when using Windows 10 a good few years back it never produced this?

I agree that Windows 10's screen reshuffling was a lot faster but Windows 11's is a lot mroe robust. I remember having issues with windows that were open on the disconnected screen staying "on that screen" and having to fight with keyboard shortcuts to get it back.

5/6 seconds seems very slow though. I usually see half that.

I suspect Windows is seeing the Monitor signal change - Ideally want to keep the monitor alive and just switch between inputs.

I've just noticed the setting "minimise windows when a monitor is disconnected" in display - I'll see if this makes any difference later.

Displayport by any chance? It's due to a certain feature (think it was called deep sleep) but it basically tells Windows it's no longer in use. See if there's a setting in the monitor to turn it off.
