Multi Monitor Issue

I've got a PowerColor HD 7950 and my current setup is
Monitor 1 - 1900 x 1200 - Connected using Mini Display port
Monitor 2 - 1900 x 1080 - Connected using HDMI
Monitor 3 - 1200 x 1900 - connected using DVI

My issue is that the desktop / icons keep randomly changing.

for example my main display is Monitor 1 this has my desktop icons etc. If I power off this screen and switch to my TV (Monitor 2) then I shutdown the pc. If I then start it back up but with the TV (Monitor 2) not switch to the PC's hdmi and Monitor 1 on it jumps all my icons to my TV and often then decides to open all app windows on my tv.

I have to either then play restarting the PC a second time then it sorts things out.

I've got the latest drivers etc

Any ideas what could be the issue here ?

i'm thinking its something to do with the min display port.

i've just tried altering the connections so there now
Monitor 1 - DVI
Monitor 2 (tv) - hdmi
Monitor 3 - mini display port to DVI

When I try this it won't let me have two dvi connection active :(

It seems like something to do with a priority system of the outputs, for instance I used to get similar issues when I used Displayport for my primary monitor and DVI-D for my secondary. Changing my main monitor to HDMI and leaving the secondary with DVI sorted it.

When you boot up what screen does the pc POST/Bios show up on? and does this change?

And is that Mini displayport adapter an active one? Pretty sure you need that to go to DVI(for a third monitor)

The post screen appears on both the active screens at the moment.

I think your right about it needing to be an active cable/adapter. I'm using a none active cable (I think) which is why the minidisplay to dvi won't work without disabling the other dvi.

Going to pick up an Active cable and see what happens

right I've removed the display port connection one for now so the setup is
Monitor 1 - dvi
Monitor 2 - hdmi

Using this setup the desktops are stable, before Monitor 1 was Mini display to minidisplay and turning off this monitor caused the desktop to jump to Monitor 2. Now they both stay as they are.

Think I got away with it on my old graphics card as one has vga
