Got given a leatherman Fuse last night by my cousin, i dont know anything about mult tools and what's quality or not , but i must say this little thing seems to be well made and tough.

came with a led light also and a leather belt case. the irony here is that to open up the ******* plastic bubble wrap, you would need one of these.

Anyone any experiences with this brand? reliable?

oh and whats the law about the blade on it, as it locks.

cheers :)

Yep. You can't go wrong with a Leatherman or a Gerber. I have a Leatherman mini (Has scissors instead of pliers) and a Gerber. I think I actually prefer the Gerber to the Leatherman, but they are both quality tools.

I use the leatherman wave everyday at work. Totally reliable and easy to get repaired if it breaks. Always recommend picking one up on trips to the states because an £80 wave costs around £28-30 there.

The knife is legal, I go through airport security nearly everyday with mine.

I'v always got my leatherman knife with me and depending on what I'm doing, often my multitool too. Leatherman make some quality stuff, I'm sure it will serve you well.

I have a leatherman wave - really good quality piece of kit. Though if you are going to do a lot of work with a knife then you would be well served to get a seperate locking knife. I have a small sheath knife for every day bits and pieces that wouldn't suit a leatherman.

Leatherman are awesome. I went the cheapo route however, and bought a Gerber Suspension, which was incredible value:

I've got a leatherman, had it for 5 years now and I cannot fault it one bit. Its got everything I need (screwdrivers, pliers, knife, scissors, corkscrew) and its even got a saw on it!

christ , i would never pay the kind of money these tools retail for over here .

cousin works in b+q and he said the fuse which he gave me, retails for 50 notes.

maybe because the dollar is weak and they're imported, not sure, even so, you would have to be a professional outdoorsman in my mind to warrant forking out at those costs.

just tested the knife cutting a orange, and nearly cut my arm off. sharp is a understatement.

Have you tried a proper grindstone? A little bit of oil to lubricate and a decent grindstone ought to work, it might not be quite as quick as a steel or an electronic machine but the results have been pretty good in my experience.

You will have no problems it's under the legal 3 inch length. Quite a few divers I know use them as well. :)

Irregardless of length, if it locks, it's illegal to carry without a reasonable reason

i don't have a grindstone to hand, but will ask around see if i can find someone who does. i tried using a steel first because it's what i use at work to sharpen the knives :)
