Multiplay Insomnia. What do *you* do when you go, if you go?

... they might as well charged 10 quid a can then... You shouldn't have the mentalityof oh , other places that have a captive audience rip you off, so why shouldn't they? They are making over 200% profit on a single can.... As I say, it's silly. The amount of people I knew who simply didn't buy any alcohol at the last llan due to the price increase, I reckon it would have benefited them keeping the prices the same.

However I don't let it overshadow my weekend. il still have fun regardless

Blimey dude.. calm down.. it's just a commercial :) You do know we live in a capitalist society don't you?

To be honest, I didn't really notice if they were expensive or not. If I generally want something, then i'll buy it. At the time, I wanted some beers and bought them and at the time I didn't think i was being ripped off which i have been on other venues.. and going by the amount of beers cans in the hall, I didn't think it was too much of an issue. My brother in law is a right tight **** and he said they were fine. I'm not the sort of person who drives 10 miles out of there way to get 1p off a litre of petrol :p

Right then, tickets booked, travel arrangements made, seat chosen, clan joined.

Good so far :p

*edit* rejoice. 3K posts :D

What seats?

The seat I booked is near the tuck shop near the end of one of the bottom 'other games' rows. But I joined a clan/group to camp and sit with, and i think we are trying to book up half a row in the other games section, so I'm not 100% on seats yet. :p

To be honest Huddy, if the beer was 20p a can I would still complain that it isn't free :D nothing is cheap if you're a student haha :D

You both have a point, yes I agree that the prices are reasonable when you compare them with the prices of alcohol at a concert or a football match, but do they really need to charge so much for it? They are already charging what... 2000 people £92 each for entry, theres no way that each person is going to use £92 worth of power, they are still making a killing, especially when you take into account the profits made from people buying early arrival, raffle tickets, and goodness knows what else.
There's plenty more costs than just power. Networking (gigabit line), security, venue hire, stage equipment, tables & chairs and of course the non-volunteer staff who work for MPUK are all lumped into the cost.

To be honest I think the price is quite reasonable if you compare it to music festivals and such, in the 3 years I've been attending the price hasn't rised and the event has been improving at a steady pace so no qualms here :)

It's the luxuries that make it expensive, you can do LAN on a tight budget (<£50) :)

Once I have bought sufficient food (probably £15 per day for me if im sitting at a PC all the time lol) and visited the bar a few times and such, it will probably come to quite a bit more than that...

I suspect that I will spend more on other shizzle too heh.

Plus I need to pay for a tent (I think) and security stuff for my gear (just for my own peace of mind, some people have said it isnt really necessary, but i'd rather not risk it for the same of £20 or £30, plus the locks and such will be used many times so its not just for this event)

Wetherspoons pal, beer and a burger for a fiver!!

Yeah I'll be honest I've never done LAN on below £150 but I know people that have done it on much less, keep away from the £3.50 pints and the OcUK stand and who knows you may be able to do it on under a ton ;)

There is a fella at the event (Dwarfy) who usually has kensington locks for sale for a very reasonable price :)

Hehe. I'm just lucky that I found someone to give me a lift, otherwise I would a). have had to take a smaller/less powerful PC and b). had to pay £75 travel

Beer and a burger for a fiver sounds... Like its about the price beer and a burger would be anyway :D

How reasonable are we talking on the prices of the locks? I could get some decent quality ones online for a fairly reasonable price.
