Multiple Access Points

Hi. If you have three access points in a large house, all wired to a Virgin Superhub 2, would you use the same ssid and password for all of them? Many thanks.

If using normal consumer access points e.g. Netgear, TPLink, etc, then you have 2 options:

1. Use same ssid - this works fine, but it won't swap to an AP with a stronger signal until the connection is lost (and as they are all the same SSID, you cannot manually swap to a different AP)

2. Use different ssid - as above, it still won't automatically swap to a stronger signal, but at least you can see the other APs and manually change to them.

Yes, get ubiquiti unifi access points.

If you don't already have any access points then this is the best idea, as the unifi points allow you to roam between them, automatically switching to the AP with the strongest signal (with no loss of connection).
