Hi, can anyone help? My son has an MSI R9 270x ITX Gaming card and I am trying to connect 3 displays. I am connecting 1 * DVI, 1 * HDMI and 1 * DP. At any point I can get 2 of the 3 screens to display (whichever combination I want by disconnecting the other one) so know that all of the cables and screens are working. The machine is running Windows 10. The screens are 2 * 1080p monitors and an LCD TV screen.

In AMD Catalyst I can see all three screens, however if all three screens are plugged in the TV shows as being disabled. If I go into the display settings, I click extend and it says it cannot save the settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

You mention one of the monitors is connected by DisplayPort, is this to a DP input on a screen, or is this to a Passive DP to DVI/HDMI/VGA adapter? I suspect it's the latter, as that will produce the problem you've listed - three screens recognised but you can only have 2 on at once.

To connect the third, you need either a DP (or miniDP) input on the monitor, or use an Active adapter such as the Startech DP2DVIS or the DP2HDS (provided the monitor it's going to isn't above 1920x1200@60Hz).

If the two 1080p monitors are identical makes & models, then they and the TV should work with your current connections provided all are connected at boot up, but I'm guessing they're not as you've already tried this.

This is all to do with how many clock generators the card has, and which connections need them. Here's the best explanation I've seen for it: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7400/the-radeon-r9-280x-review-feat-asus-xfx/3
