Multiple ESXi hosts in vSphere client?

I noticed on the left of the vSphere client for controlling ESXi hosts it looks like you should be able to have multiple servers listed, as opposed to opening multiple copies of vSphere.

Is there a way to add more? Or does anyone know of better software for controlling multiple ESXi hosts that doesn't cost any money (or very little)?

You need VMware vCenter Server, which is a licensable product.

It's a pain, but given that you are using the free hypervisor platform, it only stands to reason that they hold back the centralized management.
