Multiple Monitors

I have recently upgraded my desk which means I can now have more than one monitor and I would like to have a set-up of, one 27inch in the middle and a 24inch on each side.

I was wondering how easy/hard it is to use multiple monitors of different sizes in the same set-up?

For desktop work it's as easy as plugging them in (with the NVIDIA 6xx series). With AMD you have to make sure the card supports eyefinity (anything but the very cheapest from the 5xxx series and up will do) and that one of the screens is connected to the displayport (use an active displayport to whatever adapter if needed).

If you're planning to game on all 3 screens I'm not sure.

The middle is for gaming. I was just concerned because online most people have all of the same monitors in their set-up.

I got a 1920x1200 (used in portrait as 1200x1920), 2560x1440 and 1680x1050 monitor, works perfectly, plug and play. Using the same size is indeed usually for aesthetic reasons. This is on an AMD 7xxx card with the highest resolution monitor on the displayport connection.
