Hi there
First of my spec

E8400 @ 4ghz
HD5770 1gb @ stock (wont OC at all it seems, the one i bought to pair with it was unstable too)
Asus p5q pro mobo
Crucial (1st edition) 64gb ssd
320gb HDD drive 7200rpm
Blu-ray reader
Corsair modual 520hx psu
Antec frezzer pro mark 7

My options
Upgrade to i2500k oem
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 mobo
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel

Upgrade to
MSI GeForce GTX 570 1280MB
NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit
use my exsisting set up in both

They are both parts of my upgrade path to a new build

My question, I want to try some of the new games like witcher 2
I play global agenda, wow, rift, and just cause two. My list is limited because i like good fps and want to upgrade

What is the best option, i cant afford both right now

Think you will soon tire of the nvidia glasses and within 30mins will be taking them off with sore eyes.

sell your processor, 5770 and mobo
get the i5, 570 and a new mobo and the new ram
and forget about the nvidia 3d, heard its useless,
but if you have 4GB ram, then you don't really need to upgrade unless your doing photoshop.

id get the cpu/mobo/gpu upgrade
you might not have to buy new set of ram if the ones you have are DDR3 as 4GB is enough for gaming.

Asus p5q pro mobo is a DDR2 mobo (Asus Site) so he would need new RAM unfortunately.

Here's some benchmarks which would make me think the GTX 570 first if you really have to choose GPU or CPU+Mobo+RAM.
CPU Comparison
GPU Comparison

The 2500K does destroy the E8400 at processing but look at the game fps comparison near the bottom its about ~80% fps of the 2500K except during heavy video action scenes while the GTX 570 seems to be double the 5770 in fps.

Put the full system in to this calculator to see what it recommends.

Stulid's comparison does show 2500K at double the fps in L4D (medium settings) but I am assuming this is with a gpu that's not bottlenecking like the 5770 would be, the same could be said for my anandtech comparison though I'm sure so you might want to have a look at a wider range of benchmarks to see how they fair and what gives you the biggest boost in what you are looking for (game fps from what you've said).
