I have two Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboards, both fitted with i7 K processors.

When I try to manually alter the multiplier for the CPU, it does not apply it to the CPU - any advice?

(manually altering the BCLK does produce an effect)

Make sure you have sync all cores selected. Also when saving and exiting the bios, you should get a confirmation message pop up telling you what settings you have changed. Do you get that?

In modern cpu's /boards you don't change the multiplier you change the boost speed.

Are we getting mixed up with terms here ?

OFC you change the multi!
Depends on what board you are referring to, most of the ASUS have a multiplier speed and then a turbo boost speed, its the turbo boost you change to over clock on new Intel, changing the multi wont change anything apart from none boosted speed.

I'm not a big enough expert really, but I was just trying to point the OP in the right direction.
