Mum had a crash...

Letter from my mums insurance company says:

"Please note both parties involved indicate that your had already hit the vehicle infront (I assume they mean 'your vehicle'), please advise if this is the case as they are refusing to reimburse the full outlay."

Then they attached a copy of the letter sent from the insurers of the car in front saying:

"We have written confirmation from our insured that two impacts were felt. The other parties insurers, Tesco, have confirmed that your client hit our insured first and then their client hit your client. We trust you will now concede liability."

Do you know what would happen if the insurance company doesn't believe us? I'm guessing both the women in front and behind doesn't know each other... but we reckon they must've spoken to each other after the accident and decided to make up this story that my mum hit the car in front first...

As to Chiropractic.. never really knew what it was.. its just that physio was what the doctor recommended at first.

*BTW* its 'her mother/mum', not 'his' -- i'm female!!

it will either goto court if your company feel they can win, if not they will concede and take liability i think. which isnt good as you know it was 1 hit, but the insurance company would rather not spend loads in court fees if your not really garenteed to win.

Are there no independant witnesses?

Regardless of if your mum went into the car infront the car behind still hit her. They probably felt two bumps as the car behind you mum probably carried on pushing your mums car after the first impact.

Then of course some people are just liars and make stuff up

I thought there was no damage to the car infront? and she drove off?

Why would she care?.. whats she trying to claim for?

Or is it the insurance company not wanting to pay for the front end damage to your mothers car?

The accident happened on a busy road during rush hour, so i'm sure a few people can witness the accident but they just couldn't be bothered to stop and get involved...

My mum said the car in front only had a small dent on one side of the bumper, so the woman just gave insurance details and left within 10 mins or so. No pics were taken at the time of the accident and by the time the police arrived everyone had left apart from my mum, so the police just asked 'is everything ok?' and drove off without taken any reports.

Mum's car had been written off, and insurance company have already paid out to her. I thought everything had been sorted already, but I guess the woman in front is still waiting to claim from my mums insurance..

oh ok. Maybe the woman in front is confused how this all works.. so is lying to make sure she gets her money?

depending on how hard the car behind hit and momentum.. there could have been two bumps.. but they would have been very close togeather..

the car behind could have hit your mothers.. shot it forwards hitting car infront.. then momentum could have carried the car forwards further hitting your mothers car again.. so the lady in front felt two bumps...

But i doubt its that...

id say shes lying to make sure she gets a claim in as she dont have a clue how it all works...

Hope your mother is ok and on the mend :)

The last thing an insurance company wants to do is pay out, they will try everything they can to avoid this. Stand your ground.

Merlin put me on to a top solicitor regarding my crash when the bloke refused to give me his details. The case is still ongoing but I am just about to post my letter detailing a final summary of all costs etc... so should be settled very soon, unless it goes to court.

if were all going to suffer inflated premiums then we may as well have something to show for it
Nice attitude.

It took my mother over four years to resolve a big insurance claim after an accident which nearly killed her. She spent two weeks touch and go in intensive care followed by months in hospital and has permanent nerve damage as a result. The reason it took so long to resolve? Because insurance companies question everything and it takes ages to get anything done. The reason they question everything? Because people with attitudes like yours insist on trying to claim a fortune for minor injuries, or in some cases, non-existent ones.

It's not just a case of premiums going up, it results in untold extra grief for those making large, warranted claims which can often lead to huge amounts of stress and financial hardship.

Have a few
