We've got a 13-bed manor house in Scotland booked in January and we want to do a murder mystery one night. Short story is I'm struggling to find anything decent as most seem to be cheap download/make yourself ones.

We'd either want a posted game, with the right number of people and sexes, so that nobody knows the game/characters etc, or even a hosted one where somebody comes along with all the stuff and drives the story (I'm guessing as a police character etc).

As there's 13 of us even £200-300 for a custom-written or hosted game would work out at £20 each which is well worth it so long as it's decent. Can anyone recommend any companies?

That's pretty awesome.

We did one of the box Murder Mysteries last NYE and found out that even though it says you can have 9 people with the 8-10 box - you really need 10 as then you get all of the clues.

Having a bespoke one would be brilliant. Another NYE we went to an organised party with actors etc.

I asked them to spec me a price for a work Christmas Party but that was at my old job :(

The company we went to (very good) is killinggame.co.uk

Depends on what you want really. The other one I am going to look into is: http://punchdrunk.com/current-shows/column/1

We were going to go to the one in New York but ran out of time.

Sounds great, but £200-300? That seems a bit low for an ad-hoc, bespoke event.

'Tis! It's this place:

Which is only £45 each for 4 nights in January. Should be pretty good :)

Thanks for the link to the Killing Game but unfortunately they don't cover Scotland.

Yeah maybe, but it's only 2-3 hours of one person's time in January (that's if it's hosted). If it's just custom written then I think it'd be less than that - and by custom written I just mean the right number of people and sexes rather than written from scratch with a bespoke story.

Very timely thread, had thought about doing a murder mystery meal again.

Going to order this for later in the year - 'Murder a la Carte The Brie, the Bullet & the Black Cat Mystery Dinner Party Game' (Amazon).

Did one a few years ago and I have never laughed so much in my life, especially with my mate turning up in a genuine Vickers outfit and his g/f in a genuine Nun's outfit - still never found out how they got hold of them!
