Last night I manged to get tackled from behind quite badly whilst playing Football. The back of my lef hurt a lot (just below hamstring) I tried to run it off to no avail and then the a big lump of swelling appeared on my leg and I could hardly stand on it.

Anyway after a long sleep and some muscle treatment on the leg it is better and I can walk. The only problem is when I'm sat at my desk and my leg is one position the muscle is tightening up so when I get up I have to stretch it out again.

Is there anything I should do whilst the muscle recovers from the knock?

Cheers!

Can't help you but if it's any consolation I pulled my hamstring at football last night (again!) I'm in a lot of pain with it right now. Well and truly @#%$&£# off! :(

I've had ice packs on mine, had a bath in Epson Salts to try and relax the muscle and took loads of Omega 3 fish oils to try and keep the swelling down.

Ive had a very similar thing where the muscle would tighten up whenever I wasn't walking on it, for me it was just a case of standing up slowly and stretching it off before I walked anywhere.

Can be very painful, just gotta let it run its course though. :(

Was supposed to be playing Football tonight too, blooming hate being injured.

I need to be back for Monday.

How long did it last by the way mate?

I used to get muscle strains all the time, even just turning my head could cause a neck muscle strain (quite regularly)

I found out it was creatine usage. Apart from Whey, i don't use any supplements now.

How's it going? Still sore?

Mine's a lot better already. Loads of vit C, zinc, magnesium, Cissus, protein and I keep doing little stretches and rubs aswell as having it strapped tightly. Seems to be helping.

Yeah :(

I'm trying to strecth my leg out and move my foot around in circles, I can feel my calf muscle stretching a lot. But after five minutes of doing nothing its just tightening up again.

Grrrr...

Might try run it off :D

No bruising has formed of yet.

Whats the benefits of strapping it, mate? Worth me doing it?

I injured my ankle a while back and was out for about 4 weeks, when I began to play again, I used to strap it up just for extra support and it helped big time :)

Well I went in goal for the team on Saturday and was ok, I could feel the muscle aching but I could run and jump about.

I thought I'd recovered but yesterday it went back to normal, and no improvment today :(

Tensing up again when sat here.

Gah.

Your body is trying to tell you something. As it seems to be speaking Dutch, I'll translate:

"Andy I am hurt and need you to rest me!"

So stop being a stubborn bugger and do it! See if you can get hold of some Brufen from the doctors. It's an anti-inflamtory and will help. You may be able to buy a weaker over the counter medication that works in a similar way.

:D

I know, I hate missing out due to injury.

Can I ask, is there any point in me going to hospital or the Doctors? Will they be able to advise me on anything?

There is a huge bruise on my calf now, stretching right up to my hamstring.
