Muse - The Resistance

*shakes fist angrily* If your guitar wasn't so frickin' awesome, I'd still be angry at you.

haha read the previous page mate

It's sarcasm. I'll be using 2 tickets for me and a mate, sold 2 at face value to a friend and will be giving the other 2 to my parents for Xmas

Don't really need to explain yourself tbh, I was only kidding too. Internet sarcasm meter sucks! :D

And yeah... I only just saw Muse like last week too at the Glasgow SECC - frickin' amazing gig.

I set my alarm for 8.45 to book some tickets, but I totally overslept.

Thankful for the Friday date - I managed to get some standing tickets just now as a present for my brother.

I don't really feel like I want to go just now having seen them so recently, but I'm sure I'll be more excited closer to the time.

I have recently made a realisation regarding this album. I recently read through George Orwell's 1984, which was a fairly frightening book. It now appears that this whole album is pretty much a direct soundtrack to 1984 - no, really.

The references are so damn bloody obvious I'm shocked that I hadn't seen it in aforementioned in the thread (as far as I can see). The vast majority of the songs, particularly Resistance, Uprising and United States of Eurasia are so explicitly about 1984 that the whole album might as well be renamed '1984' :p

I have since discovered that the book was cited as a major influence on the album and it really does show. I encourage anybody that enjoys the album to give 1984 a whirl and once completed to return to the album. All lyrics which seemed alienating and strange (for example, 'And we know that there is no one we can trust; Our ancient heroes, they are turning to dust. And these wars, they can't be won. Does anyone know or care how they begun?') make complete sense in the context of the book. As a result I now enjoy the album on a completely different level than before.

So yes, go read the book :)
