Music Drowns Out Dialogue In Tv and Films

I find Netflix to be generaly the worst offender.. Maybe they just assume everyone is listening via 5.1 or 7.1.
There's no audio settings on Netflix.
Dialoge can be very quiet so you turn it up a bit, and then an action scene comes along and blows your eardrums out.
So annoying.

Listening via pc/2.0 for reference.
I don't seem to have any issues with eq/balance playing music at all.

Stuff that I know can just pump out sterio sounds great.

This reminds me of about 15-20 years ago when the adverts were always really loud.

I am wondering is this problem present with old TV shows or with their own content?

I assumed that it was the videos have been encoder with compression and/or normalisation not set right.

Funny enough netflix used to be ok but watched some breaking bad and one of the early episodes had some scenes where had to turn up to hear voices, then suddenly explosions gun shots etc almost deafened me.

I bought a Sonos Beam and it solved this issue, doesn't seem to suffer from any audio sync/delay like the usual soundbars etc seem to.
