So when I watch movies from my HTPC, the sound is pretty amazing (SVS sub and Orb audio setup through a Onkyo amp). However, when I listen to music it just doesn't sound, like it should do I guess? The bass is not that loud at all, in comparison to when watching movies. I don't want to have to keep changing the settings on the sub. I know it can sound great, as when music is played in a movie scene.

Any suggestions?
Using Win 7 and usually use WMP.

How is everything connected? Is this analogue out to the stereo, digital out? What are you playing back? Are you making any settings to the EQ etc in WMP?

Connected via HDMI, playing regular old mp3's or streamed internet radio (pandora etc) and I have not messed with the EQ settings in WMP - I'll look in to that.
I think it is the bass that does not sound right? If I listen to some classical type music, it does sound stunning, but then throw on some dance/hip-hop it lacks the low end (which I know it is more than capable of).....very confused.

Try playing with the settings on the Onkyo amp. I'm assuming it's an AV amp.

Onkyo AV amps are a little weak for music (I have one), try playing around with the music mode settings. Is any bass coming out of your sub with the music?

Some music modes don't pass through the bass to the sub and with the frequency cut offs you have set, could be the cause of the lack of bass.

Yep, Onkyo AV amp. That is exactly it, just sounds weak. To the average joe it sounds good, but to me it's missing that low end bass. Bass is definitely coming out, just not enough (I don't want the windows shaking as such, just want more ommph!)

Try as probedb suggested and alter EQ settings in WMP, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to find the missing bass.

The Orb speakers, from a quick google, appear to be single driver speakers that are classed as bright, which you have paired with an Onkyo amp, which is also classed as bright.

A bright/bright pairing will lack the warmth of the bass. I've got the 607 paired with the Q1010i's (bright/neutral). For movies I love it, but for music, it lacks the detail of the mid/bass, but as I rarely use it for music it's of no concern to me.
