music player wanted

hi all, im bored and bit frustrated with wmp so im looking for somthing new, stylish and easy to use that can play most if not all files.(free prefered!)

any suggestions.

Winamp perhaps? Lots of plugins, loads of very clever skins, plays everything and is free

On Winamp when your playing your whole audio collection, can you make the library skip to each song so it's easy to see who the artist/title is?

E.G if I play a hed p.e song from the top of my library and then a new song from QOTSA comes on I can still see hed p.e on the library, which I don't want. Wanna see the QOTSA track...

Hope I explained that well enough, not sure if there's an option?

Winamp is excellent, I switched from WMP 11 this week after a few annoyances. While both are good programs I much prefer Winamp.

Winamp all the way!

Big vote against Itunes as its just slow!

If you dont like winamp have a little go with songbird... Its sort of like Itunes but faster and opensource

I'm using Foobar2000. Quite like it after a bit of customisation.

I used to use Winamp, but it was wonky with large libraries for me, so I went to WMP11.

So you just mean that the focus of the playlist will jump to the current track? Yes.

thats the library, you said the playlist. If you have the playlist tab open then it'll jump to the track on that.

So what you would want is for the library to bring up the section where the track is? Where "All" is highlighted you'd have the track playing highlighted?
Don't think you can do that unless you use the playlist, there may be a plugin though, the idea of the library is that you have the area you're browsing separate to what's playing.

Foobar is nice but it seems to hate embedded album art for me where as WMP/iTunes all work fine with it.

Basically Foobar jumbles up the album art so for some reason a Slayer album will have the art of say a Vader album, even though the files are tagged correctly and work fine on other players.
