What do u reckon? Please CC.

i showed it to a mate and said that at places its either under or over exposed.

i think i need a bigger light modifier.

i used a 43inch shoot through unbrella on the left side attached to a canon 600ex flash and on the right for the blue highlights at the background just used a flash bending thingy shaped as a snoot with a blue coloured flash gel on the right aiming on the background.

Any suggestions to improve lighting?

I think you need to consider what the final image is meant to convey first! What does the client want, and if they don't know ask what it'll be used for to you've got an idea what needs shooting. And if it's not for them and its for you, what do you want.

If you set out to achieve the look you captured and the client is happy mission done :)

To me lighting aside the pose is awkward, unbalanced, there is no real connection with the talent, hands are again awkward, framing is flat and i'm left wondering what he dropped on the floor. The best lit and prominent part of the photo is the t-shirt which i'm guessing wasn't the focus of the shoot?

Sorry I know that sounds very harsh.

For solo full length shots i need a connection with the subject. Go all moody and looking out of frame on 3/4 or head shots because they are more intimate.

Unless you absolutely had to have a full length shot i'd of gone 3/4 and focus on his strongest asset, his hair. It's awesome and you could grab some really cool images with strong shadows falling on to the background. Or lit from behind, silhouettes etc.
