MVA Panel

Hi all i'm currently interested in buying a cheap 28" monitor for a good price.
http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-x2888hs-b1/ Its going for €205 all in from Ireland. Question is how is the panel technology for gaming its 5ms but i read MVA is poor for my needs? I currently have a Dell IPS 24" which is fine playing MMO only games i don't play FPS games. I think its a relative modern monitor maybe the technology has improved. Reviews are scare for this model so any thoughts? Thanks.

I am not sure about the panel technology, but this monitor is only 1080p. Given it's 28" your 24" monitor will look much sharper as it's likely to be 1080p itself, or even 1920x1200. If you want to go bigger, I'd certainly suggest a higher resolution monitor, but of course this increases price and you'll need to be sure you have enough GPU power to drive it.

Which Dell do you have? My own preference is for IPS monitors, and I find my U2412M is fine in all types of games including FPS.

Newer A-MVA panels general have lower response time i.e better for gaming than IPS, also no IPS glow which is a blessing, blacks are inky black.

If you're happy with IPS for gaming you should be happier with A-MVA as long as the panel is decent. It's worth paying a bit extra for a quality monitor because at the end of the day you could have the best PC in the world but if you're screen is crappy the end result is still poor. Good screen is essential imho.

At 28" a 1440P screen would offer much more clarity and pop. 1080P at 28" will be horrible for text / desktop use etc. Games and movies should look ok though.

My honest advice save up a bit longer, grab a decent 1440P monitor, Dell have an awesome 27" slim bezel IPS 1440P screen for about £400. Comes with 3 year replacement warranty. Something like that would be worth the money. If you wanted to get something bigger the BenQ BL3200PT is 32" A-MVA panel for about £450 I've just ordered the BenQ myself, looking forward to testing it out.. 32" !!!

Thanks for the replies I might skip the one i linked for the price must be something up with it. I really think investing in a 1440P is the way to go. My current monitor is actually a U2414H and its fine but i'm really looking for more real estate screen wise. Incidentally my current card is the R9 290 Sapphire TriX-OC that card would run the bigger screen fine? 16g Ram and i5 4590 if it matters thanks.

I was checking about found http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CAKD6LI/ its got great reviews and seems like a bargain only just over €300 on Ebay any good you think?

I've got a U2414H here, great lil monitor. I think you would be happy with the Dell UltraSharp U2715H 27" Widescreen LED Monitor, IPS, 1440P. A really nice upgrade, great screen, great warranty with Dell.

Your 290 would be great at 1440P, just lower some setting if you get fps drop, you will still be able to run everything on high, just maybe not ultra. I'm using single 290X on 1440P.
